The Sun: 'I knew who took Maddie'

MADELEINE McCann suspect Raymond Hewlett confessed on his deathbed that he KNEW what happened to the little girl, The Sun can reveal.

In a letter to his estranged son Wayne, he denied having anything to do with Maddie's disappearance.

But he said he knew she had been stolen to order by a gipsy gang who kidnap children for wealthy couples unable to have kids or adopt.

Hewlett, a serial paedophile seen near the spot where Maddie was snatched in Portugal, said they had a "shopping list" of potential targets - such as a little girl with blonde hair like Maddie.

Private detectives working for Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry are "extremely interested" in Hewlett's claims.

A source close to their ongoing investigation said: "What he says fits the No1 theory, which is that she was stolen to order."

Hewlett died of throat cancer in April, aged 62, after persistently refusing to meet the McCanns' detectives.

He became a suspect because of his appalling record of rape and abduction of children.

And he was living as a nomad in Portugal with his second family when Maddie vanished from the McCanns' holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007.

Hewlett's letter to builder Wayne, 40, was delivered to the son by a mystery man - thought to be a solicitor or a private eye - a week after he died.

Most of it was an apology for how his vile crimes had affected his first wife Susan and Wayne.

But then he went on to write about Maddie, who was nearly four when she went missing.

Wayne, of Telford, Shropshire, said: "It was a bolt from the blue and I shook when I read it.

"He stated he didn't want to go to his grave with us thinking he had done such a horrible thing.

"He said he had had nothing to do with taking Maddie but did know who had.

"He said a very good gipsy friend he knew in Portugal had got drunk and 'let it out' that he had stolen Maddie to order as part of a gang.

"My dad said this gang had been operating for a long time and had snatched children before for couples who couldn't have children of their own.

"Maddie had been targeted. They took photos of children and sent them to the people they were acting for. And they said Yes or No.

"Dad said the man told him it was nothing to do with snatching children for a paedophile gang or for a sexual reason.

"He said there were huge sums of money involved. And he totally believed what this man was saying."

The account fits with others surrounding the Maddie mystery.

Several strange men were seen taking photos of children around the Ocean Club resort in the days before she vanished. And The Sun revealed earlier this year that a British expat thought he had seen Maddie in a white van driven by a gipsy couple the day after she was lost.
Wayne, who had no contact with Hewlett for nearly 20 years, said his father's letter seemed "very genuine".

He added: "I don't know if this is what happened to Maddie or not, but it does make sense. I can't believe he'd go to those lengths to make up some elaborate lie when he was so weak and ill."

Wayne said he considered going to Kate and Gerry with the letter but was worried it could cause them more heartache if it gave them false hope. He added: "I actually burned it because it unnerved me so much.

"To have a letter from someone you hated for so long was just mind-blowing. I couldn't deal with it."

Wayne did not contact The Sun about the message. We learned of its existence through a friend.

But now he intends to sit down with the Maddie detectives to tell them everything he knows.

The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell said last night: "We are extremely grateful to Wayne for coming forward with this information and the detective team will be interviewing him as a matter of priority."

The Portuguese Paedophile Problem and the implications

The recent events surrounding the successful prosecution and conviction of a high level paedophile ring in Portugal has sent shock waves through Europe.

by Dr Stein

Once the main stay of hard line conspiracy sites the question of such high society gangs is no longer a question of actually existing but a matter of how many there are. Within the last eighteen months rumours about UK cabinet ministers and prominent public figures were linked to such child abuse. Many of these names coming from the unofficial listings of the Operation Ore investigation.

This recent criminal convictions in Portugal opens up the question as to how endemic child abuse rings actually are, not just in Portugal but in other countries as well. The parents of missing British child Madeleine McCann will take little comfort in learning that such prominent figures have been involved with child abuse. In a somewhat guarded comment, Clarence Mitchell, the McCann’s official spokesman said that they had been following this case but had found no link to Madeleine’s disappearance and a paedophile gang.

Having been a casual observer into the Madeleine McCann online coverage there is an evident stark contrast between two distinct schools of thinking. The majority of comment remains supportive of her parents and those charged with finding her yet there is a highly vocal minority across cyber space that are shrouded in a darkness that they propel in all directions hoping that it will encourage others. To fall in with this bleak minority means that at some point along the way you will have to support convicted paedophiles, murderers and con artists; all very much a part of this obsessed and contemptible cabal.

With the Casa Pia case being of great prominence coupled with the recent revelation that convicted child sex offender Raymond Hewlett sent a letter to his son outlining his belief that Madeleine was abducted, the vocal minority have jumped to the defence of Hewlett. Would they be so keen to defend this man if they had any insight or visibility of the crimes he had been convicted for?

Many make it their mission to go public in defence of Hewlett only because of the anonymity the internet bulletin boards affords them whereas there are more openly and identified critics of Madeleine’s parents who appear to be proud of their comments.

Over a year ago the Joana Morias blog was the bible for this vocal minority, masquerading as a news source it has long since fallen into a state of moral decay where child sex abuse references are made and the predictable defence of paedophiles is common place. Ms Morais has made no secret of her direct accusations at Madeleine’s parents; Gerry and Kate McCann for her disappearance. She has also made it no secret of her apparent school girl crush and unconditional support of Snr Gonçalo Amaral, the lead detective on the Madeleine case prior to him being removed amidst many allegations of improper conduct.

The Casa Pia court ruling has given fresh venom for all those primarily concerned with their disgust at Madeleine’s parents. With no evidence to support their hatred, they are blind with rage and remain a fixated darker side to the internet that can only be usurped by the criminal activities of the paedophiles they willingly defend in preference to admitting to themselves that they are wholly wrong.

Child Abuse Ring linked to Madeleine McCann Jailed

A group of rich and powerful men in Portugal have been jailed for their involvement in a paedophile ring which some believe is linked to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

A former ambassador, a television presenter, a doctor and a lawyer were found guilty on Friday after an eight-year investigation and a six-year trial which shook the country, with 32 men giving evidence of hundreds of crimes committed against them when they were children.

Members of the ring snatched children as they slept at the state-run Casa Pia orphanages in Lisbon and took them to grand houses to endure sickening abuse.

One of the abused boys, Pedro Namora, is now a lawyer and was a key witness in the case.

He wants Portuguese detectives to continue their probe as he believes the ring may be connected to the disappearance of Madeleine at the Praia da Luz resort on the Algarve in May 2007.

Speaking to the Sunday Express, Mr Namora said: “During the summer children were taken to the summer homes of paedophiles on the Algarve. It was highly organised and involved a lot of planning and control.

“It is possible that those connected with the ring who have not been caught may be involved in Madeleine’s disappearance. I do think detectives should look at this possibility. No stone should be left unturned.”

Although most of the abuse involved hundreds of boys, he said some girls also fell victim to the gang.

One man arrested in the case and later released without charge was said to have had a great interest in the ancient underground tunnels running under Praia da Luz.

There were emotional scenes at the Lisbon court house as two judges read out the punishment to the men, once regarded as being among the country’s great and good.

Socialite Carlos Cruz, once Portugal’s most popular television presenter, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The 68-year-old father of two was found guilty of having sex with a 14-year-old and abusing another boy. Cruz said: “There is no proof of my guilt. This brings back memories of Portugal under dictatorship.”

A former Portuguese ambassador to Unesco, Jorge Ritto, 74, was jailed for six years and doctor Ferreira Diniz got seven years.

Former Casa Pia ombudsman Manuel Abrantes should have been safeguarding the boys but he was also an abuser. He was sentenced to five years.

Casa Pia caretaker Carlos Silvino, 53, known as Bibi, used to pluck sleeping boys from their beds and take them away to abuse them or pass to others.

He confessed to 600 crimes and was given the longest sentence of 18 years.

Mr Namora, who was in court along with four other victims, said: “These men have to be condemned. They committed barbaric crimes against humanity.”

Catalina Pestana, who has run Casa Pia since the crimes were reported in 2002, said: “The stories that I heard were the most terrible of my life.

“Now when a child accuses an adult, nobody will look with the same lack of attention that they did for many years.”

Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, said they had been closely following the Casa Pia case but did not have a lead linking Madeleine’s disappearance to the paedophile ring.

Steve Marsden Forced to Close Spoof Site

Notorious Madeleine McCann hater and "Faked Abduction" author is forced to close spoof website that blackmailed photographer Mike Gunnill this site has learned.

It has been over twelve months since Steve Marsden (Brian Johnson) created a spoof website in an attempt to attack and blackmail distinguished press photographer Mike Gunnill. Chaos Raptors have been informed that finally Marsden has been forced to remove the site.

During an acrimonious split from the Madeleine Foundation in which Marsden hijacked the Foundation site to wage a personal vendetta against secretary Anthony Bennett, Marsden also created a spoof website that set out to blackmail Mike Gunnill which resulted in Mike having to close his own website while legal action was taken against Marsden.

Marsden, the author of the book "Faked Abduction" which has been panned and dismissed by critics claims to shed new light on the Madeleine McCann case.

Acclaimed singer song writer and now author Terry Longthorne described Marsden's book as "badly researched, badly written and badly in need of a spell checker and proof reader".

Mike Gunnill is now pleased to announce that his site is now open since Marsden's spoof site has been removed.

Forgiveness releases others from their indebtedness to us and releases us from our indebtedness to them- both freed to love.

Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today ?

Human beings seldom step outside of themselves to really grasp the needs and fears of others. We often project our own thoughts and beliefs upon strangers, and make judgments based upon how we think they 'should' be living their lives. If only we could experience a few moments inside the feelings of another person, the world would be a much more compassionate and benevolent place
